How does Employer Verification work? For a low fee, OJNJ uses trained and experienced professionals to pose as a prosepective employer and attempts to verify details of employment, just as any real company would do. We document our calls and inform you of who we spoke with and what was said. Using a variety of proprietary techniques, we attempt to obtain as much negative information as possible from the target employer and this information is confidentially reported back to you. This valuable information can then be used by the customer in a variety of ways. In job interviews, the customer can speak more confidently about past jobs from which glowing reviews or minimal feedback is provided. The customer can also prepare prospective employers to receive negative feedback from other employers who are more willing to divulge details. Nobody is perfect and sometimes past employers seek to vindictively sabotage a former employee's attempts to gain decent employement. By utilizing our Employer Verification services, applicants gain confidence in their background and can stand firmly in job interviews, knowing that their statements will not be contradicted by vindictive or dishonest past employers. Can't I just have a friend call for me instead of using your service? Of course you can! However, OJNJ maintains a network of trained professionals in fields such as human resouces with specific experience making employment verification calls. Our staff is diverse. We leverage our diversity in different fields to to provide the most realistic-sounding calls possible and even attempt to match the person being contacted with a team member who is most likely to yield favorable results. We have experience, having made numerous calls such as these and our experience shines through. We use loose scripts which allow us a much greater probability of uncovering negative information than someone making their first couple of calls could ever hope to achieve. Do you record your calls? The goal of Employer Verification is to let you know if we are able to uncover negative information and also to give you a general idea of what was said so that you can prepare yourself for future job interviews- and prepare your employers for what they are likely to hear. While we employ fast typists who do their best, we typically cannot provide a precise transcript. To do so, would require recording the calls and this brings up a number of issues. Every state has different laws concerning the use of recording equipment on telephone calls. Many states require that both parties be aware of the recording. In these cases you can imagine how hesitant someone would be to lie or divulge private or forbidden information on a recorded line. So rather than have to tell the target that they are being recorded, we feel it is better to let the call be unrecorded and allow the target to speak freely without fear of having their words used against them. Remember, the goal is to find out what is being said about you, so you know how to prepare yourself when speaking with prospective employers and clearly the importance of this goal is far greater than having a precise transcript of the call. Will you call references as well as former employers? If desired, we will call references. Please note this clearly on your submission form as calls to references typically require a different tone than for employer calls and, as always, we want to provide the best, most targeted calls possible. What if you can't get into contact with someone? Our standard service includes three attempts to reach the target and we do accept callbacks. While there is no guarantee that we will be available after hours for callbacks, we do attempt to provide realistic availability. In the event that three calls are made and no contact or callback is received, we will advise the customer of this situation. Under these circumstances, customers can be reasonably certain that targets are not returning calls and that there is a significantly lower risk that such an employer will divulge work details or information in the future. Is this legal? Yes. This service, as we perform it, is legal. While it is quite possible for an individual to run afoul of the law and possibly face criminal prosecution, we have researched the laws and developed specific approaches, methods, and techniques for our specially-trained operators. We ensure that we remain within the bounds of the law at all times. What if they spread lies about me? Generally, when lies cause harm to others, they become actionable within the courts. For example, if an employer were to lie about your employment record, or state falsehoods about you or your character, these could be considered injuries to your or your reputation and they may very well be actionable in a court of law. It is possible that you might be able to sue your former employer for any such false statements. However, consider this from a practical standpoint- are you trying to get damages? If you feel you have been harmed in this way, by all means, consult with an attorney. However, don't you really just want the opportunity to find a good job and be judged on your merits? If this is the case, what better way to stop falsehoods from being spread than to let them know they've been caught? Will you speak with my attorney, or testify about conversations that occurred? We will cooperate fully when legally required by U.S. courts. However due to the volume of work we perform, it is highly unlikely that an OldJobNewJob.com representative will recall any specific conversation or the details thereof. The documents that we create are provided to you, the client. If there is any question as to authenticity, we will undertake reasonable efforts to verify a document's authenticity. However, any time required to be provided for legal proceedings will be charged at specified rates. We are not in the business of being witnesses. As such, you or your attorney will be responsible for travel costs, expenses, and fees associated with the testimony we are able to provide and where permitted, these fees are likely in excess of the legally required costs set forth by most jurisdictions. What if an employer lies about me? What then? Our service is strictly a reporting service. We do not provide legal counsel, nor do we advise as to legal rights or remedies that may be available- consult with an experienced employment or tort law attorney to discuss possible options. Upon receiving negative information from our service, you may elect to have a letter sent to your past employer. This is a sternly-worded letter in the nature of a "cease and desist" letter When the work is completed, how am I notified? What do I receive? Within seven to ten business days, we provide its customers with a written report of all employer contacts attempted and made. Successful contacts will provide details as to what was discussed and the type of information that was provided by the target company. In most cases, this information will be standard and nothing of significance will be noted. However, in cases where employers divulge negative information which would likely impact the customer's ability to find future employment, we provide details of the conversation(s) which took place sufficient to allow the customer to account for this information in future job-seeking endeavors. How can I pay? For your protection, OldJobNewJob.com accepts credit card payments through asecurecart.net. This secure payment service using top of the line security and is for many thousands of transactions each day. If preferred, you can also use Paypal which also adheres to the highest standards of data security. Payment by check is also accepted, although this may result in a substantial delay in processing.
