Employment Empowerment Service |
OldJobNewJob.com is preparing to launch it's Reference Recording Service in the upcoming months. Here's the low-down on how it works: Largely, your references are there to fill in the details of who you are which cannot be adequately conveyed on a resume or application form. When an employer calls a reference, they are trying to get to know you, learn more about you, find out about things such as your character, your level or maturity, and your level of responsibility. Obviously, as an applicant, this is a great place to win or lose a job. Let's consider some of the things that can go wrong with references: 1. They can be unavailable/busy/away when the company is looking to speak with them; 2. They may serve as a reference for so many people that they just get tired of the constant calls and give less than their best effort. 3. They can be caught off guard if a call comes at an inopportune time and could very easily forget to say some great things about you. Look at it from the perspective of your reference: sure they like you, hopefully a lot, why else would they agree to be your reference? However, it's an unpaid gig and everyone's time is valuable. Who wants to have their time wasted? To resolve these problems, OldJobNewJob.com is working on creating our Reference Recording Service. We can set up an appointment to record an interview with your reference, at a time which is convenient for them. We can ask pertinent questions, similar or identical to those that would be asked by a prospective employer. And we provide you with a password-protected reference number, giving you the ability to make those recordings available online, to be heard by prospective employers. Now, if the company can't get a hold of a reference? Not a problem! You've already got an interview with the reference available for them to hear. Your reference is going away for a week? Or is busy? Or hard to get a hold of? Well, unlike a prospective employer, we'll work around their schedule! Worried your reference won't be ready for the call when it comes? With us, they will be! As you can see, OldJobNewJob.com is working hard to remove the roadblocks that were previously beyond your control, making your transition to a new job easier than ever. |
